short bio:

Ian Kane is a versatile pianist, composer, and recording artist known for blending sharp musicality with humor in his iconoclastic variety show, “Ian Kane Presents.” Swapping the traditional talk show desk for a piano, Kane presides over an eccentric mix of music and mayhem, featuring unorthodox medleys, gag artifacts, and interviews with his cat. His performances offer smart comic critiques of the music industry alongside original compositions.  The intersection of art and showbiz is Kane’s inspiration. Imagine Harry Connick Jr. stepping into a New Yorker single-panel cartoon, and you’ll begin to understand this enterprise.

Previous projects include The Blue-Hots, a 1960s-inspired vocal trio praised by All About Jazz as “grandiose, diverse, and fun.” Kane’s passion for blending classic showmanship with music began in New York City, where he co-founded the neo-Vaudeville act Kane & Zaray and the Boogie Stride Players, inspired by the spirit of the 1920s. During this time, he also contributed music to films, including the soundtrack for the HBO documentary Run Granny Run (2007).
